Yoga for Scoliosis Teacher’s Training Program
with Elise Miller
Yoga for Scoliosis Teacher’s Training is the first teacher’s training program designed specifically to train yoga teachers on how to work with students who have scoliosis. To become a Yoga for Scoliosis Trainer, it is necessary to complete 20 hours of instruction, submit a paper which will be assigned in the workshop and complete a practicum where you will submit 2 case studies within 3 months of completing the 20 hours. There is an additional fee upon submission. You will then receive a certificate recognizing you as a Yoga for Scoliosis Trainer.
For a yearly fee, you will be featured on a page of my website, www.yogaforscoliosis.com as a Yoga for Scoliosis Trainer where students can refer to if they are looking for an instructor. I also get many referral requests by email and phone and I will personally refer scoliosis students in your area, to you once you have completed the training. If you choose to take the 20 hour course without doing the practicum, you may also participate but will not receive the certificate or be able to be listed on my website as Yoga for Scoliosis Trainer.
In 2008, the 20 hour Yoga for Scoliosis Teacher’s Training course will be offered at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health on July 20th – 25th and at Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco Aug 4th – 8th.
In addition, to obtain the 20 hours of course work, you may take my weekend programs, Part 1 and Part 2, offered at various locations throughout the year. See below for detailed dates, times, and locations. Each weekend will run 10 hours each to complete the 20-hour requirement. If you have taken one of my 10 hour Yoga for Scoliosis workshops offered throughout the United States in 2007, then you may take Part 2 in 2008 and will qualify to do the practicum and become a Yoga for Scoliosis trainer.
Information for students
Workshop one is appropriate for beginning students and intermediate students with scoliosis. Students will benefit greatly by learning about physical and psychological aspects of scoliosis as well as having the opportunity to explore in great depth beginner and intermediate poses with ‘hands on’ adjustments. Also, teachers who wish to assist their students with scoliosis may bring their students to the workshop at a reduced cost for the student.
If you are a student with scoliosis and have a teacher who you feel would benefit from my programs, please let them know about these opportunities.
I look forward to sharing my experience and training with all of you.
